ANZAC Day is a sad day when we remember the soldiers that died in 1915
in Gallipoli.
The 25th April every year marks the anniversary of the landing of New
Zealand and Australian soldiers in Gallipoli. ANZAC Day was first commemorated
in 1916.
On ANZAC Day, everyone wears the poppies to remember the people who died
or who will serve and everyone has a Public Holiday.
This year New Zealand marked the 100th Gallipoli Anniversary.
They lower the flag to half mast in remembrance and place wreaths at the
bottom of the flag pole.
We are quiet while the last post is played at the ANZAC Dawn Service
because it is the sign of respect for the soldiers who died in the war.
The ANZAC Cookies are related to ANZAC Day and it is crunchy then it
tastes good.
The original ANZAC Cookies was not sweet. It was a savoury biscuit (also
known as an ANZAC Tile). The soldiers had these instead of bread.
I think ANZAC Day was a sad day and that it is an important day. We must
always remember the soldiers that died in 1915.
